I do also like to create intriguing photos with a little mystery or questions and do apologise that photos of the sky may be prominent on this Resident site.

If you want to find out exactly what is a ‘Hillbilly’, then look up by a dictionary or wikipedia which says: Hillbilly is a term (often derogatory) for people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas in the United States, primarily in Appalachia.  Due to its strongly stereotypical connotations I have used this to create a character, avatar or even a gravitar! ……..In no way does this character represent anyone, any suburb or myself, although it does have historical and biographical connotations from my own School nickname. Yes I did go through the Moulsecoomb School stream in its infant, primary and secondary years during the sixties! Just about remember those early days of my life.

mcLarenUpdate on One Moulsecoomb Way – Student Accommodation

The scheme on the corner of Moulsecoomb Way and Lewes Road providing 373 student bedrooms, employment space and new community space for the St Francis of Assisi on land currently used predominantly as a waste recycling site, received planning permission in November 2019.

A visit was made in 2020 to our February MLAT, from the McLaren’s development director David Atherton. Mr Atherton informed us that the development schedule was now being planned and the Recycling site and Cottages are to be vacated this Spring.

Following this, some organised demolition with hoardings would take place during the summer months 2020 and any inconvenience would be kept to a minimum.

The final design for facing & environment materials was in progress and planned commencement of the build was around August 2020 with completion expected during 2022.

Submission documents and acceptance agreements were that contributions would be made for Leisure, transport and infrastructure, and include Public Art as part of planning terms.

Anyone with questions on the preparations and actual build of this development should seek the developers public relations or to look out for a further attendance to MLAT around June/July when a further detailed update will be presented.
